Looking At The Issue Of The Bills Of Exchange

by OurChapters on Oct.30, 2009, under OurChapters

The discount houses got their name because they discount bills of exchange: they buy them at a discount to their face value. To see how this market works we need to examine the mechanism more closely.

Bills of exchange are a form of short-term IOU widely used to finance trade and provide credit, the work like this Company A sells Lim worth of goods to Company B. It ‘draws’ a bill of exchange for Lim which it sends to Company B. This bill is an acknowledgement by Company B that it owes the Lim, and Company B signs it to show that it accepts the debt. The bill may state that the money is not payable until some date in the future: perhaps in three months. The bill returns to Company A.

Company A then has a choice. It can hold on to the bill, in which case Company B will pay it the Lim in three months. Or, if it needs the cash sooner, it can sell the bill to somebody else. Whoever holds the bill when the three months are up gets the £lm from Company.

Bills of exchange do not pay interest. But if Company A sells the bill before it is due for payment, it will receive less than face value. In other words, it sells at a discount. So if the bill is due for payment in, say, three months, the buyer might pay only £97.50 for every £100 of face value. The buyer is thus getting a profit of £2.50 per £100 when the bill is repaid at face value, which is equivalent to receiving interest: the discount is usually expressed as an annual rate of interest. When the Bank of England is said to have bought bills at 10/4 per cent, it means that the Bank bought them at a discount to their face value. Thus if interest rates generally come down, the prices of bills will rise. This is why discount houses may be reluctant to sell them when they think interest rates should come down.

The bill described above is a trade bill, issued by one company to another. But a bill may be accepted by a bank, in which case it becomes a bank bill. By putting its name on the bill, the bank agrees it will pay the amount of the bill on maturity, even if the company which acknowledged the debt should default: it is therefore a form of guarantee. Accepting bills in this way was an important part of the business of the merchant banks in the past, hence the term accepting houses which used to be used for the top-tier merchant banks. A bill accepted by a bank, because of the security it offers, sells at the very lowest interest rates. Any monetary sector institution can accept bills, but the Bank of England only buys or lends against bills accepted by eligible banks, hence the term eligible bills. The Bank maintains a published list of eligible banks; in general these are banks which have a substantial and broadly-based sterling acceptance business.

Bank bills also provide a substitute for overdrafts in big company financing. A company arranges an acceptance credit with a bank, which allows it to issue bills up to an agreed limit. Each bill is accepted by the bank in return for a fee and can be sold at a discount to raise cash for the company. The effective rate of interest may be lower than on other forms of borrowing.

Starting a business requires foresight

by OurChapters on Oct.30, 2009, under OurChapters

Having a clean desk and an organized office is not always a sign of a growing business, especially a start up. Sometimes being a bit high minded helps one to see the opportunity not as the supplier but as the customer would. Customers have the money that the new business hopes to earn, so meeting their needs is of paramount importance.

Most people look for problems in the products they purchased. Entrepreneurs look for ways to make them better. Tahitian Noni International having begun in 1996 has management that is no stranger to start-up company risks. The innovative idea of selling Noni juice through a network marketing business had never been attempted before . The amazing revolutionary compensation plan they invented where 53% was paid back to representatives was also unheard of before. Never the less the five founders pressed ahead and soon found that they have been correct in estimating the Noni business opportunity. Continual growth has been the norm since 1996 with sky rocketing sales.

Launching a network marketing distributorship is pretty straight forward. For a small sign up fee you are in business and job is limited to finding new customers and letting the company do the rest. We have chosen Tahitian Noni International as our network marketing. We did this simply because we do the finding of customers and they really do all the rest. Product development, advertising, order taking and shipping are expertly done worldwide. The only thing we concern ourselves with is finding more customers every day and introducing them to the products and the business opportunity. Earn more money . Tahitian Noni™ products can replace products people use every day. The Noni Fruit has been used for millenniums in all kinds of home products, traditional remedies. The Hunt For Beautiful Cleaning Services

by OurChapters on Oct.29, 2009, under OurChapters

It seems that more than ever our busy lifestyles require cleaning services to help keep things clean. Doing this should allow you to focus on other activities and free up more of your time. If you are considering choosing to use the services of a cleaning company, be sure to choose a cleaning service that is not incompetent. Trying to save a few dollars with “bargain” services is only a temporary shortcut.

Some of these cleaning companies may have already captured your attention. If this is your situation, select a company that is able to meet your cleaning needs. It is similar to cleaning los angeles. Picking a company with an impeccable reputation will be a very wise choice.

The first thing you must do is decide how much needs to be cleaned on a regular basis. Although it might sound good, it is not like los angeles cleaning. Because of traffic, some places will require more frequent cleanings than others. Not only will you have to decide how thorough the cleaning will need to be, but you will also need to decide how frequently it should be cleaned.

A truly professional service provider should be able to provide fast and efficient service. This is similar to los angeles cleaning. The convenience of having a professional cleaning service will be something you will enjoy considerably. When selecting a cleaning company it is wise to use companies that have selected employees that are properly insured and have performed extensive background checks.

This may seem a bit obvious, but skipping this step could prove to cost you a lot in the long run. Also make sure that the company uses industry standards for their cleaning methods and regular schedules, and carry their own cleaning equipment.

A cleaning service should also offer specialized services for cleaning different surfaces. A cleaning service with a good reputation should be able to consistently provide you with cleaning services that are always satisfactory. In addition to being more enjoyable, a clean area is also better for your health.

A review of HostGator Web Hosting

by OurChapters on Oct.29, 2009, under OurChapters

I have been running my sites on my current web hosting company, HostGator for about a year now. The years before that, I found myself rather stuck with a hosting company that I’d grown tired of after some poor support, major downtimes, data losses, and other gaffes. I tried to find a way to move my site painlessly and quickly to another host, but to no avail. After the umpteenth major screw-up that actually ended up costing me about 4 months’ worth of blog entries, I’d had enough. Any trouble I’d go through to get off their server network would be worth it as far as I was concerned. I was prepared for the worst, but I had to do it.

I discovered HostGator, and all I can say is I wish that I’d found them MONTHS earlier than I did. Had I done that, I would have saved myself TONS of frustration and hours of work.

The best part? They took care of moving my site over (which was no small feat, considering the VAST size of my blog’s database and image gallery), and putting everything up on my new server account for me. Their response time during the transition was nothing short of INCREDIBLE. I was downright shockedd at how quickly and smoothly everything went. I literally experienced NO DOWNTIME during the changeover.

Since then, I found the professionalism and reliability to be absolutely EXCELLENT. I haven’t needed support very much since I’ve been with them. But whenever I contacted their technical support with a question or issue, it was dealt with in record time. And I’m a huge stickler for getting good support from any company I do business with.

A little history about me, I used to be in the web hosting business. I had my own web hosting, development and management company in Los Angeles from 1995 until 2001, and owned part of another company until 2002. My company had its own server network, and I know all about the hosting business inside and out. It’s not easy to provide quality service, support and performance.

Now that I’m long out of the business, I always wondered if I would ever find a source for web hosting services that would meet or exceed the quality and performance standards that I was accustomed to giving my own clients. Suffice it to say, I’ve found that with HostGator. They have never dropped the ball on me. If you have a site or a blog, or even multiple sites, then it is definitely in your best interest to check them out. Their service and performance is outstanding, and their prices are simply unbeatable.

HostGator is the ONLY web hosting company you will ever need. PERIOD. Look no further than Hostgator. Have questions? Need more information? Feel free to ask me anything. I will sing their praises to the ends of the earth.

Make Copy Writing Your Number One Priority

by OurChapters on Oct.29, 2009, under OurChapters

Well after finishing a crash copying writing course with million dollar copy writer David Garfinkel I thought I’d add my 2 cents in to the importance of effective copy writing as it pertains to your online business. This is the one skill set that all successful marketers online have mastered, and is arguably the most important piece of the puzzle to making it big online. As you continue to grow with your online marketing activities please make it a point to seek out and find someone who can teach you how to write targeted content that will reach your niche audience.

We all hear about video marketing, social media, seo, book marketing and the like and please don’t get me wrong these are all a huge part of the plan, and should be part of your online marketing arsenal. But learning how to write effective sales copy is the one thing that will propel your business over the top. People have always enjoyed a good story, you know the ones that draw you in to the point were you can’t put down that favorite book or magazine article on a subject that interest you. I f you can learn to write like that people will always come back for more.

The biggest problem most people have when it comes to writing kick ass sales copy is trying not to write like you’re turning in an essay for your college professor. As opposed to writing like you’re talking to someone sitting across from you at the kitchen table. If you can learn to write like you talk in everyday conversations writing sales copy becomes a snap.

And the great thing about doing business online is that if you don’t fell that you have the time or writing isn’t your forte you can always outsource it or hire someone to write for you. Ether way content marketing is the most effective way to build a foundation for your online business. This is Kevin Thomas hope you enjoyed this information.

by OurChapters on Oct.29, 2009, under OurChapters

Any pet owner hopes for the best for their canines. Regrettably, occasionally we are forced to acknowledge the fact that our dearly loved dog has medical conditions that need to be looked into. For this specific article, let us focus on what is canine congestive heart failure and how to make nutritionally reliable selections to prevent the decline of its health.

Congestive heart failure is caused by an abnormality in thecanine’s heart structure and function. Usually, what occurs is that this defect causes your dog’s heart to decrease its ability to pump blood well which leads to eventual cardiac failure for the poor dog. There are often no indicating signals of this disorder until it is in its final stages so we would do well to learn the best dog food for congestive heart failure – it is one of the most effective methods to avoid this from happening to your dog.

As with human beings, a low sodium diet will greatly help in keeping the health of the cardiovascular system. Try preparing 1/4 lb of lean beef ground meat with 2 cups of unsalted rice and 2 teaspoons dicalcium phosphate in vegetable oil. You can also use high quality commercial dog food but check the nutritional content and consult with your vet before making any alterations in the dog’s diet and lifestyle.

Another important nutrient that should be compounded in your dog’s daily meal is Omega-3 fatty acids. When you are using a particular dog food, make sure that it has not been in storage for a lengthy periods – particularly if its nutritional content indicates that it has high unsaturated fat. This is one contributing factor in depleting the pet’s Vitamin E leve.

Other nutrients that aid in improved canine cardiovascular function are L-carnitine and Taurine. L-carnitine improves the dog’s heart rate, exercise tolerance and protection against many types of heart diseases. Menopause and Panic Attacks

by OurChapters on Oct.28, 2009, under OurChapters

Menopause, Hormones and Panic Attacks

It starts with your breathing. You breath in faster and faster but you are not sure why. Then you realize that your heart is beating so quickly it might fly right out of your chest. You may feel trapped, constricted or frozen. A feeling of sheer panic consumes you. Such are the first moments of a panic attack. One in four people will experience one throughout their lifetime, so it is not a rare occurrence. They can be brought on by many reasons, personal or environmental stress, medication or simply for no reason at all. What many people don’t realize though is that during menopause you are more susceptible to panic attacks than at any other time in your life.

Are you finding yourself becoming anxious about events that you usually wouldn’t worry about? Are your stress levels higher than normal? Do you come out in a hot flush at times or even have a panic attack? While there are many reasons that your stress and anxiety levels seem greater than in other times during your life, menopause and the hormonal changes that occur are often a cause of increased stress and anxiety.

Inside your brain is a small centre called the Amygdala. Among many other functions, the Amygdala monitors your response to stressful situations and can bring about the onset of a panic attack. During menopause, the altered levels of hormones cause the Amygdala to react, which can make you far more likely to have high levels of stress and in turn be prone to panic attacks. What your brain viewed as a normal, or slightly stressful situation a few years ago, it now sees as being highly stressful. The hormonal changes that menopause brings have, in effect reset the way that the brain interprets stress. While anxiety is a symptom of menopause, this does not mean that you need to accept this as a part of your life. There are ways that you can control these reactions. The first step is to talk to a councilor or other qualified professional. You may wish to consult with your GP. Anti anxiety medication can be prescribed to help.

If you feel like you are experiencing a panic attack the best thing to do is take deep relaxing breaths. This will slow down your heart rate and help bring the attack under control. If you are driving, pull over safely as soon as you are able. Sometimes a panic attack can be a reaction to a stressful event, sometimes it can seem to happen for no reason at all.
Another great step is to take a more relaxed approach to other areas of your life. Take up yoga or meditation classes once a week, you will learn strategies to deal with difficult situations and find that over time you will have a more relaxed attitude. If you are feeling constantly stressed, take ten minutes to sit down are think about what is really stressing you out, perhaps write a list. Think about these issues and whether they are really worth stressing over. If so, what can you do to help resolve or improve the problem?
Disclaimer: Always seek medical advice from a proper doctor if you are suffering from any medical condition related to anxiety, fear or panic.

Virgin Shoot for Glamour Photography

by OurChapters on Oct.28, 2009, under OurChapters

Well if I had a pound for every offer to hold my camera bag, reflector or tripod, I wouldn’t be writing this article.

As a developing semi professional photographer over the last 2 years the author had worked in marketing for 16 years now. Producing everything from brochures, to web sites, to videos and conferences.

The corporate straight jacket required an escapologist manoeuvre if some sanity was to be retained. So, the passion for photography, which had always been there, brought the author from buying in professionals, to retraining as one.

In photographing various subjects, seeing what appealed and looking for a style of my own – which is still being sort, I did think that glamour photography might appeal as an extension to my love of fashion, so with an open mind I gave it a go. But how do you approach photographing glamour models? Well this is where all the hormones has to be left firmly outside of the studio, else that’s where you’ll be very quickly. I attended a small workshop style shoot with 3 other photographers at Blue Moon studios on Dudley, West Midlands. I’ll admit that I was a little nervous of what they day might bring.

We had plenty of options to work with. The studio offered a wide range of photography services meaning it had various themed areas or “sets” and of course provided a professional model. Blue louvered blinds gave scope for a more creative lighting set up as well.

The day was a greater challenge than I imagined – I found my creativity drying up and was struggling to come up with concepts that worked. I prefer much more subtle and low key lighting effects than the modern “all white” look. Less was certainly more – but not when it came to clothes, the shots I felt worked better with a hint of what you couldn’t see. You certainly have to be clear in your mind as to what you want and how to communicate models. It’s hard not to be put off at the end of a sequence of images when your model comes running over to pinch the camera off you and check the shots on the back without a stick on .

It’s good to work to a theme and to build a set a group of shots that tell a story or show a sequence. Also pictures that show the process of an action rather than just the end result – it makes for more feeling and adds anticipation. Personally I like to try and get a bit of attitude from the girl into the shots – something that shows their personality.

As for tools, there was the trusty Nikon DSLR mainly used with an 18-70mm lens. Also some shots were taken from the mezzanine of one of the sets using a 70-200mm f2.8 to give a different perspective. Studio flash was one or two Bowens Esprit 500w flash heads with radio triggers and soft boxes. The lighting was kept at a low level – firstly in relation to the model and secondly in terms of power, so that the atmosphere was conveyed in the pictures. Most of these shots were taken using one flash head, soft box and all the windows darkened using the blinds, this being the preferred set up for the professional photographer. Flash head power was set to one quarter for starters then reduced to suit.

As for camera body settings I rely on my favourite starting position – 160 sec and f8 – camera on Manual. Then the rest is done testing and a quick check of the histogram. With low key lighting and the model wearing partly black and seated on a black sofa I expected the histogram to be skewed to the left.

I was looking for something alternative to the typical cliche topless shots and eventually found the great contrast in black and colour with low key lighting.

The only alternative to this was the portrait shot with the models hair over one eye, I absolutely love this shot, which is now on my web site and was cropped out of a wider three quarter shot.

All in all a good day and a great experience, on reflection it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be. So would I do it again? Yes it’s a challenging area to work in and a great test of your creativity.

The Australian Building Business During WWII

by OurChapters on Oct.27, 2009, under OurChapters

After the declaration of war in September 1939 house construction went through a period of decreasing activity. But it did not drop to its minimal level until February 1942 when National Security Regulations posed severe restrictions.

Private building ceased in many areas and was limited in others. However, under the War Housing Program, state and commonwealth authorities did continue with essential housing, such as that needed for munitions workers and their families.

Clear indication of the degree of change is seen in the official statistics. More than 40000 new homes were built throughout Australia in the financial year 1938-39, but in 1942-1943 there were fewer than 4000.”

In the editorial of the Australian Home Beautiful for January 1942, we read of conditions up to that time. Building restrictions, at the moment of writing, limit expenditure on new domestic buildings to 3000 pound and on renovations to 250 pound; but conditions grow harder week by week. In spite of this, a great deal of new and interesting building is being carried on over a widespread area and this will continue as long as materials are available.

War in Europe and North Africa was distant enough for Australia to seem relatively secure. With the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941, and their inexorable advance in our direction, any remaining complacency evaporated.

A. V. Jennings, the well-known construction company founded in 1932, continued building houses on its construction within 25 miles (40 km) of the Melbourne GPO as well as restrictions on the transfer of land brought development of the estate to a halt.

As early as May 1941 wartime conditions had begun to cause shortages of building materials and dwindling sales. In that month A.V. Jennings advertised seventeen villa sites and seven business sites, all lots to include, electricity, gas, sewerage, roads, paths and crossings.”

Of the 121 residential blocks, fifty-nine houses had been completed by the beginning of 1942. They were typical of the well-built, double-brick houses constructed by Jennings over the previous decade. Beauview Estate was in a very attractive elevated area with panoramic views and a mere six-and-a-half miles (10.50 km) from the city.

In 1942, with home building now at a standstill, A.V. Jennings averted complete disaster with the sale of all unsold blocks on the estate to the large Melbourne estate agency T.M. Burke. As a company Jennings actually gathered strength through the challenges offered by wartime government construction contracts, so that when it returned to housing on a large scale in the mid-1950s it was able to regain and extend its early reputation in the domestic field.

Brick houses of the type built by A.V Jennings between 1932 and 1942 were basically conservative in their design when compared with the few examples of International Modern built at the same time. Some of the forms or details suggested the continuing popularity of `Spanish Mission” or `Old English”, but generally, there was a tendency toward a common sense functionalism with easily maintained surfaces, modern kitchens, hot-water services reticulated to five or six points, internal toilets and many other features taken for granted by generations.

Orange Juicers: Not Just For Breakfast Anymore

by OurChapters on Oct.27, 2009, under OurChapters

You may have heard amazing things about the power of certain foods to prevent chronic illness and the breakdown of cells from aging. Many of these foods are on the expensive end of things, but one great source of antioxidants can be purchased by the dozen for only a few dollars: oranges.

You may not feel excited about the common orange: after all, it’s available all over the place, and with the inedible peel it can be messy to eat. An orange juicer conquers this while providing an easy way to get all the valuable nutrients that oranges offer, including folate, potassium, Vitamin B6, Thiamine, Niacin, and fiber.

Homemade orange juice also contains limonoids. These molecules are what lend the citrusy smell we associate with oranges. Because they can add a bitter taste, sometimes mass juice producers filter it from the juice, but limonoids are driving research that provides evidence that they are natural cancer fighters and pesticides. Making yourself a fresh glass of OJ every morning with your orange juicer may be the biggest favor you can do for your health and longevity.

But Which Orange Juicer Is The One?

Buying an orange juicer can be like car shopping; there’s a huge range of orange juicers available, and it’s definitely harder than buying pond filters. Do you want a Rolls Royce, a Toyota, or a 16-passenger van? On one end of things, you can buy a very low-upkeep manual juicer that fits over a pitcher. Simply cut an orange in half opposite to the stem’s axis, press and grind. A few oranges later, you have a glass of juice so fresh it’s practically bursting with flavor.

You can then step up to electric juicers, for the juice barista and consumer alike. That electric motor makes life a bit easier, and a little shopping around for a model with easy clean-up is definitely worthwhile. These models, also called reamers, generally extract a larger portion of juice than non-appliance manual types. They come in a wide range of horsepower and wattage. If you’re just making yourself a glass for breakfast, you can grab a nice one for under a hundred dollars easily.

Unlike microwave reviews, a review about juicers goes over different features. The next step on the orange juicer scale are large-scale automatic juicers. These are perfect for the restauranteur, and are usually prominently displayed for their theatrical quality. These have a fairly large footprint and can produce a lot of juice in a short amount of time-you can also expect to spend a few grand on them.

If you think you may want one of these orange juicers, find one with a large amount of transparency; that way you can really get the appeal of the process. Often operating with ramps and conveyor belts, these larger machines take whole oranges, split them in half, and juice them right in front of your eyes. It’s very cool to watch, and can act as a great draw for customers and little ones. Whatever orange juicer you pick, make sure you save some juice for yourself!
